Geary County 2025 transient guest tax collections were down about two percent. It is the tax paid by users of lodging facilities.
Three factors in the decline were cited during the Convention & Visitors Bureau Committee meeting on Wednesday. They included the closure or demolition of three hotels, the federal government shutdown and road construction closures along I-70.

--Due to the bridge construction, Interstate 70 eastbound is temporarily down to one lane.
--The annual Chamber of Commerce dinner is scheduled March 12.
--The new CVB Visitor's Guide has been prepared for distribution.
