Chieko Jeffries-MacDonald, age 72, passed away on October 1, 2020.  She was born August 10, 1948 in Okinawa, Japan to Keisei and Kiyo Shimoji. She married her friend and love, Paul Marshall MacDonald, in October of 1999 who preceded her in death in 2016. Chieko loved to garden, walk and most of all, cook.  She was never more at home than when she was cooking for family and friends.  She always enjoyed making sushi on “sushi Saturdays” for her granddaughter and son to eat.  Her home was filled with numerous recipes from cookbooks, magazines and scribbled on random pieces of paper.  She worked retail sales for twenty plus years at stores such as: Gibsons, Alco and Dillons.  She took enjoyment from assisting others and always took pride in being both fast and accurate.  

Chieko is survived by her mother Kiyo Shimoji, Sister and husband Kyoko and Yoichi Miyakawa, son and wife Bill and Kerrie Jeffries, daughter and husband Sunni and Jerry So, grandchildren Kiera, Anthony, Samuel and Kellen.

 A small graveside memorial will be held on October 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, KS.&nbsp;
