2 children traveling with Junction City woman injured in crash

ELLIS COUNTY —Two children were injured in an accident just after 7p.m. Friday in Ellis County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 GMC SUV driven by  Audra D. Berquist, 24, WaKeeney, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of the Yocemento Exit.

The SUV rear-ended a 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by Renee L. Rhodes, 40,  Junction City, who was traveling at a slow rate of speed with its flashers on due to a flat tire earlier in the day and driving on a donut.

EMS transported an 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy to Hays Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The KHP did not report where the children were from.

Berquist, Rhodes and an adult passenger in the Nissan were not injured. All Five were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
