National Weather Service has put a red flag warning into effect from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday for multiple counties including Geary, Dickinson, Morris, Riley, Pottawatomie and Clay. Other counties covered by the warning include Marshall, Washington, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Lyon, Osage, Franklin, Coffey and Anderson.
The warning projects strong south winds, low humidity and very dry fuels. Winds for forecast out of the south sustained at 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 40 MPH. Humidity will be in the 20-30% range, any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
