Geraldine Frances Majerus, known to most as Geri, 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Junction City, Kansas, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, August 3, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Rosary and funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Leawood, Kansas. A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa.
A luncheon will be held for all to attend at 12:15 in the Parish Hall at Nativity. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas or Phoenix Home Care & Hospice: In Time of Need Foundation.
Geri was born November 14, 1941 in Highland, Kansas to Gerald and Maxine Gormley. The family moved to a farm in rural Reserve, Kansas where she attended school. After high school she lived in Hiawatha, Kansas where she met the love of her life, John Majerus. They married March 3rd, 1962 and moved to Atchison, Kansas. Later moving to Junction City, Kansas and eventually, Overland Park.
Geri was multifaceted when it came to her career. She worked several jobs before she and her husband became franchisees of KFC and Baskin-Robbins in Junction City, but being a realtor was her favorite. She retired to be a grandmother.
Geri will be missed by her husband, John, of 63 years, her four daughters Lisa (Billy) Thomas, Michelle (Keith) Burkhart, Buffy (Tom) Orr, and Megan (Nate) Parks. Also surviving are her 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who are the brightest light of her life. She is also survived by her brother Joe (Shirley), sister Linda (James), and her youngest sister Cheryl (Denny), and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Evan Quinton.
