The Junction City Blue Jay football team kicks off the 2023 season on Friday night. The Blue Jays host the Hays High Indians at Blue Jay Stadium. It is a rematch of the 2022 season opening game, where Hays defeated Junction City 33-21. This year, the Blue Jays will go for revenge on their home turf.
Junction City head coach Randall Zimmerman begins his 30th year as head coach. Talking about the Indians, Zimmerman said, "They are very physical, they're disciplined and they will never beat themselves. You've got to beat them."
The Blue Jays return several key players from a year ago, including the number one recruit in the state of Kansas, Michael Boganowski.
Kickoff is at 7:00 on Friday night at Blue Jay Stadium.
You can hear the broadcast on 107.9 FM/1420 KJCK. Pregame begins at 6:30.
