Rathert Field is part of the plan for a future Junction City grant application.
The city commission was informed about a future application planned for 2027 that would seek money for a playground, fence, four pickleball courts and 36 new parking spots. The City would have to provide matching funds.
--In other business the governing body appointed voting members to a Homelessness Task Force. They included Sam Yoskowitz, Ronna Larson, Cory Odell, Kent Vosburg, Kimberly Sanchez, Sabrina Droddy Rumble, Tyshell Jones, Aaron Gillis and Tonette Hammond. Non-voting members will include Debbie Johns, Donna Porter, Jodi Mason, Emily Wagner and Darrell Lilly.
--The commission appointed Stephen Capizzi to the EDC board.
--Junction City Firefighter / Paramedic Sean Carr was promoted to Fire Engineer.
--Commissioners approved an agreement providing school resource officers for the 2026-2027 school year. There were no changes from the past school year.
--Conversations have just begun on the Junction City Fire Department possibly taking over the dive team from the Sheriff's Department.
--Commissioners approved a request to award a bid to Rolling Hills Construction for a storage building for Meadows Golf Course. The bid amount totaled $123,020.
--And the governing body awarded a bid for the purchase of an ambulance to Braun Northwest. It totaled $327,336.
