Nancy Marie Stewart, 84, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at her home. She was a life-long resident of the community.
Nancy was born March 28, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Ivan T. and Ida Austian Knight. She attended local schools and graduated in 1954 from Shawnee-Mission North High School.
Nancy married James W. Stewart on September 18, 1954, in San Diego, California. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2018.
Nancy was a homemaker. She also was a partner in the family business, J and N Accounting Service. Nancy was very active at the Village Presbyterian Church and worked many years in the infant room. She also sang in the choir and was a member of the bell choir. Nancy had many creative and artistic talents. She was in the Mini Makers group for over 40 years, making miniature houses. She made beautiful hooked rugs and taught this skill for Village Church’s Art Ministry. Nancy loved her family and was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nancy is survived by her children; James W. Stewart, Jr. (Nancy), Eudora, Thomas Stewart, Topock, Arizona, Pamela Southerland (John), Prairie Village, and Heidi Christ (Brian), West Covina, California; her grandchildren, Jennifer Creek (Cal), Prairie Village, Amanda Campanella (Nick), Manhattan, Elizabeth Simonich (Justin), Kansas City, Kansas, Jessica Stewart, Renton, Washington; and five great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Layne, Lydia, Charles, and Luke. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son, Timothy and a sister, Charlotte Stapp.
