A Kansas Department of Transportation project on Interstae 70 in Riley and Wabaunsee counties is scheduled to begin on Monday, weather permitting. Work includes patching and replacing concrete panels from the Riley/Geary county line to K-30 in Wabaunsee County. Bridges and bridge approaches in the project corridor are not included.

Crews will be working on both directions of I-70 in approximately 4-mile sections. The active work zones will be reduced to one lane and will have a 12-foot width restriction and reduced speed limit of 60 mph. On- and off-ramps will remain open to motorists.

Work will take place Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Lane closures will remain in place when crews are not working. Estimated completion is mid-June.

Emery Sapp & Sons Inc., of Columbia, Mo., is the prime contractor on the $2.5 million project.
