Junction City police are reporting the arrest of a 22-year old Junction City woman, Alyzah Benitez, in connection with the Aug. 22 death of Caytlin P. Hinkle, 19, Junction City. They said Benitez was arrested on the charge of Distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm or death. She was transported to the Geary County Detention Center where she is being held without bond pending a first appearance in Geary County District Court.

On Aug. 22 JCPD officers responded to a call of an unresponsive subject in the 1500 block of Patriot Drive in Junction City. Upon arrival officers discovered Hinkle unresponsive. EMS attempted to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an autopsy, it was determined that Hinkle's cause of death was "Acute Fentanyl intoxication. "
Following a five-month long investigation, at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday detectives with the JCPD's Drug Task Force arrested Benitez.
