JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - Meagan Prince, a music teacher at Sheridan Elementary, has been utilizing technology to help her students create new ways to understand and visualize music. For the last couple of weeks, Prince has utilized Chrome Music Lab and Line Rider to have her students pick music from their favorite genre and then upload it into Line Rider.
After doing so, the Stallions were able to listen carefully to every rise and fall, every pause and burst of energy. Then, sound by sound, they translated those musical sounds into motion by drawing sweeping curves, sharp lines and looping paths, all that echoed rhythms and refrains of the music.
As you can see, this Line Rider project marked an important moment in their music creation and visualization unit. It allowed the Stallions to have a canvas where music could move. See, the students weren’t just listening to music anymore. They now understood it, shaped it and were telling its story in motion.
