The topic of storm shelters arose during the weekly Geary County Commission meeting. There has been contact from the City staff to talk about opening shelters in the area.
There are currently not any storm shelters in Junction City. In the recent past city concerns about liability and available staffing for them were factors.
Emergency Management Director Garry Berges noted that it will be up to the City for discussions to occur. County officials are willing to talk about the issue.
