Junction City finished second out of 14 teams in boys varsity wrestling at their own invitational on Saturday, behind only Shawnee Heights.
Not bad for his team said Blue Jay coach Tyler Gonzalez. "Shawnee Heights is a tough team, there were some other tough teams here. So it's improvement and that's what we look for week to week ." While he said it was not a bad performance Gonzalez said that he wouldn't say he is 100% happy yet.
Individual weight class champions for Junction City included Cooper Bogenhagen at 182 pounds, Patrick Foxworth at 138 and and Zeke Witt at 106 pounds.
Shawnee Heights finished first with 206 points followed by Junction City with 161.5 and Clay Center was third with 150.
In girls wrestling team point totals were not kept but Charly Goodwin of Junction City finished first at 120 pounds.
Brooke Swango finished second at 140 pounds while Jordis Serrano finished second in the 101B - 109B weight class.
