Optimist present "Student of the Month" and scholarship award

Jasmine Palmer is the JC Breakfast Optimist Club’s Student of the Month For May.  Jasmine is a Sophomore at JCHS.  She is active in the advanced wind ensemble, advanced percussion ensemble, marching band, and pep band.  One of her teachers stated that “Jasmine is one of the hardest working students I know. She is always looking for ways to help and is consistently cooperative, prepared, and positive.”

Jasmine received a certificate from the club; a $25.00 gift certificate from JC’s BBQ & Grill and a movie pass to the B&B Theater.

Gunner Darnell was presented the $500.00 Lawrence Long Memorial Scholarship from the JC Breakfast Optimist Club.  He will attend the North Central Kansas Technical College to study electrical technology.  Gunner is a 2023 Junction City High School graduate and Eagle Scout with Troop 41. Lawrence Long was a long-time member of the JC Breakfast Optimist Club.  The scholarship is in his honor.
