Packed Fall Schedule for the Geary County Historical Society

Here is the fall lineup for the Geary  County Historical Society.

--September 20th, the Hot Dogs and Hot Rods Vintage Car Show and Ice Cream Social will be held on the museum grounds at 530 N Adams from 10am-2pm. Along with the vintage car show, the day will also include live music by the Kansas Brigade Band, the JCHS Pep Band, and Brian Clark. Hot food will be served along with homemade pies from local 4-H organizations, and the museum will be open to tour. Vintage (pre-1990) car show registration is still open and can be done online at www.gearyhistory.org/hot-dogs-and-hot-rods or at the museum. 

--October 4th, Acoustic Junction will return to St. Joseph's Historic Church at 13497 Lower McDowell Creek Rd for a night of good music, good people and a good cause. Performers for the event include Mark Westfall and Steve Brown, Chris Biggs and Ken Gustin, and Pat Billington, along with a special performance by the Guys on the Creek. Refreshments will begin at 6:30pm and music starts at 7:00pm.  Everyone is invited to come see the restoration happening at the historic church. All proceeds benefit the restoration project. 

--October 11th, STEAM Saturday is back with a family day all about the history of SPORTS! Science and art activities, along with hands-on historic items will be available for all ages with a special opportunity to learn "the sweet science" of boxing by K.O. Boxing. STEAM Saturday is held at the museum at 530 N Adams from 1:00-3:30pm and is sponsored by United Way Junction City Geary County. 

--October 18th,  GCHS will host a Murder on Mainstreet Encore performance. After tickets for the February show sold out in less than a week, the cast of this interactive murder mystery are back to give the community one more chance to solve the mystery of wagon master Wabanusey's mysterious murder. Tickets are on sale now at http://gchsmurderonmainstreet.eventbrite.com or at the museum. Tickets are $45 or $240 for a table of six. All tickets include an interactive murder mystery experience, a catered BBQ dinner, and a vintage photo to take home. 

--October 24th,  GCHS is partnering with K.O. Boxing to bring a live boxing event to Junction City! Sanctioned USA Boxing fights will take place at the Junction City Municipal Building starting at 7pm. GCHS will have a table discussing the history of boxing in our community throughout the event and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Geary County Historical Society. 

--October 25th, Heritage in Action will be held in Highland Cemetery from 10am-12pm for a community clean up event along with a presentation of some of Junction City's dearly departed and the Victorian tradition of picnicking with the dead.
