Lavina L. Kolterman

Lavina L. Kolterman, 96, of Onaga, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) at the Onaga Health & Rehabilitation in Onaga. Born November 12, 1928, in rural Onaga, Lavina was the daughter of Otto and Adele (Figge) Honig. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran South Church.

Lavina attended St. Luke Lutheran Church Parochial School through the eighth grade. On February 8, 1948, she married Vernon Kolterman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Duluth. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1991. A longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lavina was active with the Ladies Aid group.

Lavina worked hard all of her life. She was a homemaker and co-worker with her husband Vernon on the family farm. She loved tending her chickens and garden. Lavina also worked at the Tidy Bite Restaurant in Onaga and as a custodian for St. Paul Lutheran Church and for many years in the laundry at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Onaga.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Adrian (Kevin); a granddaughter, Misty Adrian of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Marcella Fairbanks of Onaga; and many nieces and nephews. Lavina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; her son, Terry Kolterman; and two brothers, Norman Honig and Lyle Honig (Thelma).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning (July 29, 2025) at 10:30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Duluth, Kansas with the Rev. Terry DeGiovanni officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Duluth. Visitation will be Monday evening (July 28, 2025) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Duluth.
