Junction City firefighters responded to a fire in the 100 block of E 12th street on July 5 at 12:47 a.m.
According to Fire Chief Jason Lankas the subject who intentionally set the fire was barricaded in a home. E1 staged a block away. Firefighters could see the fire begin to spread through the building.
JCPD was able to take the subject into custody and firefighters were cleared for response. The blaze involved a single-story house with heavy fire in a corner and all along the one side. Fire was venting out of every window in those locations.
This fire has been ruled as an incendiary fire. The blaze was intentionally set by one person who was transported to Geary Community Hospital for smoke inhalation and minor burns. He was released to GCH in JCPD custody.
