Zeek Torres is a candidate for the Geary USD 475 Board of Education. He is currently a diesal mechanic, is a former juvenile corrections officer and has coached youth sports in Junction City.
Torres is concerned that at almost every board meeting teachers seek help and are ignored. "Teachers are training our future. If we don't take care of our teachers we don't have anything."
Torres wants to be tough on bullying. "I don't think we're being that tough. I've been meeting with a lot of teachers plus paraeducators and hall monitors. They don't feel like they're being supported.
Zeek wants to hold every person not doing their job accountable. He also wants to keep the public informed.
Others running for a seat on the school board include Thomas Wesoloski, Mark Hatcher, Dr. Beth Hudson and Kristian James. The election is Nov. 4.
