Manhattan scored the last 17 points of the dual to defeat the Junction City Blue Jays 44-28 in wrestling at JCHS Wednesday night. Blue Jay coach Tyler Gonzalez saw his team ahead at one point in the dual, 28-27. "We did. We knew it was going to be tough and tight and we lost some matches where we didn't expect to."
Gonzalez noted that there were a couple of tough losses. "Like I told the kids yesterday ( Tuesday ) we're either going to win or learn lessons, and we learned lessons."
Individual winners in the dual for the Blue Jays were Yoel Padilla, Zeke Witt, Logan Nabus, Kayden Blake and Cooper Bogenhagen. For the Lady Jays competing against Manhattan winners included Jaidyn Alvarado, Charly Goodwin and Emil Re.
The Blue Jays host their own invitational Saturday at JCHS.
