Geary County Historical Society Director
The Geary County Historical Society will be celebrating America 250 with the unveiling of the new exhibit Portrait of a County on Saturday, August 1st from 1pm-4pm. This unveiling will happen in conjunction with the opening of the traveling Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History exhibition Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy, which will be on display at the Geary County Museum August 1st-August 30th.
This special exhibit opening will include refreshments and hands-on activities for all ages including learning how to write with quill and ink and JCHS yearbook exploration. The GCHS exhibit, Portrait of a County features stories of everyday Geary County residents who have helped shape the County as it is today. Geary County residents represented in the exhibit include:
