Operation Santa Claus will hold its ribbon cutting Friday, Nov. 6 on Fort Riley.
Why: Through Operation Santa Claus, Fort Riley and surrounding communities assist local active duty junior enlisted service members by providing gifts for their children. Each child in the family will receive two toys, and the family will receive a game or puzzle.
Since 1984, Operation Santa Claus has been providing Christmas gifts to military children. Last year, Operation Santa Claus served 750 military families with 1,850 children receiving a total of 3,700 toys, plus books, puzzles for the family, and stocking stuffers. Volunteers contributed more than 2,000 hours of service.
