City of Junction City
The City of Junction City is actively responding to the impacts of last night's severe weather event, which brought damaging winds estimated between 100 and 130 mph to portions of our area.
At this time, approximately 2,700 Evergy customers in Junction City remain without power. Evergy has mobilized a significant response effort, including additional crews and contractors, to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. Currently, there is no estimated timeline for full power restoration.
Despite the widespread impacts, Junction City Fire Department, Police Department, and EMS services remain fully operational and ready to respond to emergencies. Residents who need immediate assistance should continue to call 911.
City crews are prioritizing storm recovery efforts, with a focus on clearing roadways, addressing storm-related hazards, and supporting power restoration efforts where possible.
Residents can assist with cleanup efforts by moving fallen branches and storm debris to the area near the curb. City crews will begin collecting debris as resources allow and recovery operations progress.
If you encounter flooded streets or low-lying areas, please use extreme caution and avoid driving through standing water. Even shallow flooding can create dangerous conditions for motorists.
We appreciate the community's patience as crews work to assess damage and restore normal operations. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
