The Flint Hills Regional Council has announced that Michael (Mike) Couch is the organization’s new executive director.

Prior to joining the Flint Hills Regional Council, Couch held positions as the superintendent in Kansas USD 364, 109 and 474, as well as a principal and teacher in more than five Kansas communities. Couch holds a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Oklahoma Christian University.

“I am eager to be a part of a team that works to accomplish the Flint Hills Regional Council’s mission to provide services of mutual benefit to the region with the goal of enhancing economic vitality and improving the quality of life throughout the Flint Hills,” Couch said. “Kansas is a spectacular state, and those of us blessed enough to be nestled into the Flint Hills region of the state have much to be proud of and much to offer. The Flint Hills Regional Council stands ready to support the region in all opportunities for an even greater level of growth and quality of life.”

The Flint Hills Regional Council is a voluntary service association of local Kansas governments from Geary, Morris, Pottawatomie, Clay and Wabaunsee counties and/or their respective municipalities and unincorporated areas and is the administrator of the seven county Flint Hills Economic Development District (FHEDD), as designated by the Economic Development Administration (EDA). These local Flint Hills governments formed the Flint Hills Regional Council to provide services of mutual benefit to the region that are best gained from cooperation and partnership.
