Members of the public can learn Wednesday night about about how the Milford Lake water level and flood level are managed. The Corps of Engineers will host a meeting from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Geary County 4-H Senior Center, 1025 South Spring Valley Rd. in Junction City.
Bill Whitworth, Project Operations Manager for the Corps at Milford Lake said this meeting is the beginning of the public input process to update the water management plan, something done every few years. "This meeting is useful to go to on a couple of reasons. Just to learn about how lakes are managed and also if you have opinions on what you'd like to see done differently in terms of water management."
Whitworth observed that the Corps lakes are managed as a system to get a desired effect downstream.
A similar meeting is planned at Tuttle Creek Lake on Thursday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Manhattan Fire Department, 2000 Dennison Ave.
