Junction City, KS – Common Scents Dog Training has officially opened its doors in Junction City. Located inside the Harmony Center at 540 Grant Avenue, Common Scents Dog Training brings certified, professional dog training to a community that has long lacked accessible, expert-led options.

Owner and lead trainer, Emily Reid, brings over a decade of experience living in the Flint Hills region and a passion for helping both dogs and their humans. The expansion into Junction City is fueled by a commitment to education, community involvement, and supporting overwhelmed local shelters.

“In the 11 years I’ve lived in this area, I’ve rarely seen certified trainers working in or advertising to the Junction City community,” says Emily Reid. “The overpopulation at the local animal shelter makes it clear—there’s a real need for accessible, professional dog training here. We’re committed to helping by educating dog owners, supporting the shelter, and creating programs that keep more dogs in homes where they belong.”

The new location offers a full range of services including:

  1. Private Lessons
  2. Group Classes
  3. Educational Workshops
  4. Fun, Family-Friendly Dog Events

Specialty classes include:

  1. STAR Puppy Program
  2. Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
  3. AKC Trick Dog Classes
  4. Kansas Fit Dog Program
  5. Kids & Canines Program (coming soon)

All training is rooted in understanding how a dog’s brain works—focusing on ethology, not punishment—to build strong relationships between dogs and their people.

Whether you're raising a new puppy, working through behavior challenges, or just looking to have more fun with your dog, Common Scents Dog Training offers practical, expert-led programs for every stage of your dog’s life. With flexible private lessons, engaging group classes, and a commitment to ongoing support, this new Junction City location is ready to help dogs and their people thrive—together.
