Dr. Beth Hudson worked for more than 40 years in Geary USD 475 ranging from elementary school teacher to Director of Elmentary Education and Associate Superintendent of Schools. She retired but is now seeking reelection to the Board of Education.

Hudson said she wanted to continue to be of service. "Made sense to me where I had already invested all those years of my life." She noted that she has been a part of USD 475 in the best of times where there was a culture of high expectations and learning for all. "That's something that I want to continue. i don't want to lose track of Junction City being one of the best districts in the state."

Hudson wants to retain and hire the best staff in USD 475 by supporting them and continue to be innovative through pushing for research based instruction. She also mentioned that discipline is a concern in the school district and she wants a committee to continue working  on the issue. Hudson feels budgets are priorities and so she wants to make sure there is investment in the staff in their budgets, what teachers are saying about discipline and what can be done to help them.

Thomas Wesoloski, Zeek Torres, Kristian James and Mark Hatcher are all seeking terms on the school board. The election is Nov. 4.
