With the quarterfinal round of the playoffs wrapping up on Tuesday, the final 32 teams in each class frantically scramble to punch one of eight tickets to the state tournament later this month.

Saturday, March 5th
The Rural-Vista girls basketball team ran into a buzzsaw against the #1 team in Class 1ADII, falling in the sub-state final to Central Plains by a score of 63-15. The Lady heat wrap up a solid season at 11-11 while the Oilers head to Barton Community College next week.
Friday, March 4th
The Wakefield girls basketball team battled hard but fell to Linn in the sub-state semifinal by a final score of 53-31. The Lady Bombers wrap up their season 9-12 while the Bulldogs advance to the sub-state final to battle 17-4 Hanover or 5-15 Wetmore.
The Rural-Vista girls basketball team showed no signs of rust after two weeks off, handing Tescott a 49-35 loss in the sub-state semifinal. The Trojans conclude their campaign at 7-12 while the Heat move to the sub-state final to take on 20-1 Central Plains or 6-12 Wilson on Saturday.
Tuesday, March 1st
The Herington boys basketball team struggled against the might of St. Mary's who defeated them 106-22. The Railers end their season 1-18 while St. Mary's advances to the sub-state semis to take on Bennington.
Monday, February 28th
The Herington girls basketball team found themselves on the receiving end of a shocking upset at the hands of St. Mary's by a final score of 42-35. The Lady Railers will wrap up their season at 12-7 while the Lady Bears advance to the semifinal to face Wabaunsee.
Thursday, February 24th
The Wakefield girls basketball team emerged victorious in their quarterfinal contest with Southern Cloud with a 47-17 victory at home. The Warriors wrap up their season a winless 0-13 while the Lady Bombers advance to take on 12-7 Linn in the sub-state semis next Friday.
The Wakefield boys basketball team took on Southern Cloud in the sub-state quarterfinals and fell just shy of advancing, dropping the contest by a final score of 46-41. The Bombers will conclude their season at 5-14 while the Warriors take on 19-1 Hanover next Thursday
The Rural-Vista boys basketball team battled hard but came up short to Otis-Bison high school by a final score of 60-46 in the sub-state quarterfinals. The Heat end their season 2-18 while the Cougars advance to play Lost Springs-Centre in the semifinals next Thursday.
Pre-bracket play news
The Rural Vista girl's record of 10-10 was good enough to secure the 2-seed and a first-round bye at the Claflin-Central Plains sub-state tournament. The Lady Heat will play the winner of Tescott and Lost Springs-Centre on Friday, March 4th in the sub-state semi-final.
