RCPD: Cars stolen were unlocked with keys in the ignition

RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a vehicle theft in Manhattan.

Just after 8a.m. Friday, officers filed a report for theft in the 1200 block of Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan.

A 27-year-old woman reported an unknown suspect stole her blue 2017 Volkswagon Jetta that was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $18,000. 

Just after 10a.m. Sunday officers filed a report for theft in the 300 block of N. Delaware Ave. in Manhattan. A 35-year-old man reported an unknown suspect stole his red 2011 Chevrolet Impala that was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $4,000. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
