Michael "Mick" Wunder loved serving the Junction City community. Those were words by Pastor Brian Smith during the funeral service for Wunder at the JC Naz Church.
There was a large audience in attendance who were were reminded about Mick's passion to make the community better and how he took intense pride in it. There was a special passion for first responders as he supported both the police and fire departments.
Wunder, a four-time Junction City mayor, loved the sports community and served for many years as a basketball referee. As noted by his former officiating partner Brian Smith they "did it for the kids."
Wunder's most important community was his family, his wife Barb and two daughters, Kara and Katlyn!
Among the speakers were his wife Barb Wunder, who thanked those in attendance for being there to celebrate Mick.. "He would be so humbled if he knew how much he was loved and his life impacted others." She noted that she respected him for "his honesty, loyalty and compassion."
Wunder, 65, passed away Saturday June 18 at his home.
