Four teams are working to try and provide affordable childcare in Geary County. They include strategic planning needs, provider support and training, grants and funding, and facilities and location operation. The next meeting of the childcare coalition in Geary County is scheduled June 25th at which time there will be reports from each area, plus work on getting something started to help build infrastructure and bylaws.
The coalition will look to see if they can renovate an existing facility or new construction needs to be done. There will also be work on establishing a foundation to ensure they can make application for future grant opportunities.
Geary County Commission Chair Trish Giordano noted that ideally they hope to have some kind of facility in place by the fall of 2025.
The meeting on the 25th will begin at 3 p.m. at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library Meeting Room.
