Kathy Tremont, Republican, has filed for election to the Second District seat on the Geary County Commission. She paid the filing fee in the county clerk's office Monday.
Tremont served as Geary County Treasurer for 30 years before her retirement and was a county employee for a total of 44 years. She served two terms as President of the Kansas County Treasurer’s Association and in 2007, was awarded the Outstanding Kansas Treasurer Award.
" Representing Geary County and being an advocate for your voice is important to me. I have the time and energy to listen to the concerns and do my due diligence to find a solution. Having department heads and elected officials back in the driver’s seat will allow them to run their respective offices the way they know is best, "said Tremont.
Tremont will run against incumbent Alex Tyson, Democrat, for the seat on the county commission.
