MANHATTAN, Kan. – Thanks to the generosity of K-Staters from across the country, K-State Athletics and the Ahearn Fund announced today multiple fundraising records for FY22 related to overall and annual giving.
Overall pledges and cash gifts to the department during the 2022 fiscal year totaled $58.9 million, of which $20.4 million was designated for the Ahearn Fund annual giving program and surpassing its budgeted goal previous record of $18.9 Million in FY19. Included in the $20.4 million in annual giving was a department record $801,000 raised during the Powercat Auction. The department also received $42.6 million in cash giving, marking only the third time in history it has eclipsed the $40 million mark.
“We are grateful for the loyalty and dedication of the K-State Family as we continue to provide the best academic and athletic experience for our student-athletes to compete in the classroom and for Big 12 Championships,” Athletics Director Gene Taylor said. “The support of our fans through ticket sales and Ahearn Fund gifts continue to be the lifeblood of our department, and their support is critical as we continue to enhance our programs.”
In June, the K-State Athletics Department announced the Building Champions capital initiative surpassed the $100 million commitment mark, yet another fundraising record as the largest capital campaign in department history. The Building Champions capital initiative includes the recently completed Shamrock Zone, Morgan Family Arena, Morris Family Olympic Training Facility, and the Shamrock Practice Facility.
