
Match Day in Geary County will be Tuesday, Oct. 17.
According to coordinator Calvin Pottberg, there will be $155,000 available in matching funds to be distributed among local organizations receiving donations from the public. The matching funds include $100,000 from the R2B4 Bramlage Family Foundation, $25,000 from the Central Charities Foundation, $20,000 Crosby Family and $10,000 from the Hoover-Koken Foundation.
One year ago Match Day generated $358,500 in donations plus $155,000 in match money for a total of $513, 576. This year there will be 51 organizations participating in the event, the highest number yet. Pottberg said, "They found out this is a better return on their investment than bake sales and that type of thing."
There are three ways you can make a donation.
--You can donate at the Municipal Building from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
--Mail a donation form and check to PO Box 411. That will count as long as it is postmarked on or before Tuesday the 17rh.
--Go to matchday.com website and make a contribution online with a credit card. The website will be active for 24 hours on the 17th.
Each charity can only receive up to $15,000 matched.
