Junction City Commissioners have voted to have the JCPD and city attorney review all agreements and related agreements with Flock Safety, evaluate all available options including continuation, amendment, non-renewal and potential termination. Information would be brought back to the city commision for potential further action.
Commissioner Sam Yoskowitz made the motion while Commissioner Pat Landes voted no. The City currently has a contract that expires at the end of 2028.
Yoskowitz made it clear that she has no problem with how the Junction City Police Department is using the data but does have concerns about others who may have access to it.
Flock cameras are devices near intersections and user sites that collect information about passing vehicles. They can read license plates.
There are 24 flock cameras in Junction City. The system can search for specific vehicles but can also clear motorists of wrong doing. The cameras take an image of the back of vehicles and of license plates.
Flock cameras are used in many cities.
