According to Black History Trail President Jim Sands on Friday, April 26th there will be “An Evening with Kevin Willmott” at the Larry Dixon Center, 920 W 6th St. in Junction City. Doors open at 6 p.m. There will be a reception at 7 p.m. followed by a screening of “The 24th,” a Kevin Willmott film about the Buffalo Soldiers’ historic 24th Infantry Regiment. A discussion led by Kevin Willmott will follow..
On Saturday, April 27, a “Dedication and Dinner” is planned at the Buffalo Soldier Memorial Park, 18th & Adams in Junction City at 11:00 a.m. The dedication of three Buffalo Soldier sites will be added to the Black History Trail, with Phil Dixon presenting “Buffalo Soldier Stories”. A luncheon will follow Immediately at VFW Post #8773, 1215 S. Washington St. in Junction City.
All events on both days are free and open to the public, thanks to support from the Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
