Thomas Wayne Baum of Tecumseh, Nebraska, a lifelong rancher and cowboy, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Wamego, Kansas.
He was born on December 6, 1958, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of Glen and Mary Lou (Wood) Baum. He was a 1977 graduate of Tecumseh High School.
Tom was a hard worker with a knack for storytelling. His life always revolved around the outdoors. He loved caring for his cattle and riding good horses, and his dog was usually his best friend and sidekick. He enjoyed team roping and fishing. He had his own business for a time, sandblasting and painting oil wells throughout Kansas, then he was a truck driver for a number of years, hauling cattle.
Tom married Mickie Saunders in 1979 and they had three children. He later married Teresa (Young) Wissler in 2016.
Tom is survived by his sons, Shane (Kristen) Baum and Daniel (Lindsey) Baum both of Wamego; his granddaughters Makayla, Chloe, Austyn, Regan, and Madisyn Baum; and his grandsons Brett and Zane Morgan, and Spencer Baum.
He is also survived by his siblings, brother Bill Baum of Tecumseh, brother John Baum and sister-in-law Susan Baum of Tecumseh, and sister Sharon (Galen) Kuska of Exeter, NE; along with many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary Lou Baum, his son Timothy Wayne Baum, and his sister-in-law Linda Baum.
