Carolyn L. Moore

Carolyn L. Moore, age 74, formerly of Barnes, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her family by her side. 

Carolyn was born February 13, 1949, in Marysville, to Walter N. and Neva J. (Wohler) Moore.  She attended Barnes High School until her senior year, then graduated from Hanover High School.  She went on to earn a degree in accounting from Brown Mackie College in Salina.  She then worked forty-two years as an accountant for Kansas State University. 

Carolyn was a member of the Barnes United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendship Circle.  She served on the Barnes City Council, the Barnes High School Alumni Reunion Committee, and was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. 

Carolyn always had an amazing and beautiful flower garden.  In her younger days, she enjoyed doing needle work and macramĂ©.  Since retirement she enjoyed cryptograms, jigsaw puzzles and collecting antiques.  Carolyn was a cat person all of her life and always had one or more cats in her home.  Once she retired and no longer had a long daily commute, she also adopted the puppy that she had always wanted. 

Survivors include her two sisters: June Nelson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Donna (Bob) McDonough of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, two nieces: Amanda Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Molly McDonough of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a nephew Jorgan Krug of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a great-niece Aubry. 

Funeral services are planned for 1:00 pm, Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Barnes United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Senters officiating.  Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock will give a Eulogy.  Congregational Hymns will include “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden”, the musician will be Kim Oatney.  Casket Bearers are Daryl Moore, Brian Walker, Nik Sedivey, Brian Turk, Seth Wurtz and Gene Huse.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, west of Barnes.
