Big fish were pulled out of Milford Lake Saturday in the Spring Catfish Clash at the reservoir. There were 114 teams and boats that were entered in the tournament, which was part of the Catfish Chasers tournament series.
The fish that captured top honors weighed 58.25 pounds. It was caught by Andrew Melendy, Wichita, who said that fish was caught in the middle area of the lake. "25 feet of water, just kind of mid-lake out there, in the river channel. " He was fishing with his brother Nate Melendy.

The top overall team included Brandon Kennedy and Josh Smith both of Baldwin City, and Smith's nephew, 11-year Cohen Wittman of Garnett. Their total haul for the tournament weighed 91.95 pounds with 84-pounds of that total coming on two catfish weighing approximately 44 and 40 pounds, that were caught by Cohen. "First one was strip and drag the first time, and then the second one ripped a little bit of drag. Then we finally got him in the boat."

The first place team received $7,000 in prize money and Cohen also received another $500 in the youth money category.
