John C. Wright, 86, formerly of New York City, died Aug. 27, 2022, in Wamego, where he had lived the past two years. He had fast developing cancer.
He was born June 26, 1936, in Alliance, Neb., the first child of John and Corinne (McNare) Wright. Following high school graduation in 1954, he attended Chadron (Neb.) State College before transferring to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his B.A. in business in 1958. He served three years in the Navy as a supply officer and then moved to New York City where he worked in business and finance. In his last job he compiled the Best Sellers List for The New York Times.
John is survived by his sister Penny (Norris) Wika of Wamego, his sister-in-law Cleo Wright of Lincoln, Neb., two nephews, five AFS nephews and numerous great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Wright.
John requested that no funeral service be held. He will be buried in Drexel Hill, Pa., where he owned property for many years.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.
