GEARY COUNTY—Two people from Junction City were injured in an accident just after 6:30p.m. Sunday in Geary County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2019 Freightliner semi driven by  by Sukhrob Dastanov, 37, Mason, Ohio, was eastbound in the right lane of Interstate 70 near McDowell Creek Road.

Due to heavy rain, the driver  lost control of the semi. It veered left, started to cross the median into the westbound lanes and side-swiped a 2015 GMC Terrain driven by Jalen O Williams-Flanigan, 25, Junction City.

The impact caused SUV to veer right into the north ditch where it struck the embankment and rolled. The semi continued across the westbound lanes before coming to rest partially in the North ditch facing East.

EMS transported Williams-Flanigan and a passenger in the pickup Endia S McNeal 30, Junction City, to Stormont Vail in Junction City. Dastanov and a passenger in the semi were not injured. All four were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
