JCHS release
Junction City high School announced that JCHS athletes competed in the State Track Meet on Friday.
Senior Gracie Erichsen was crowned the 2025 Class 6A Girls Shot Put State Champion with a personal best throw of 40 feet, 9.25 inches on her second attempt. She finished ahead of Manhattan’s Jorryn Hall who threw 39 feet, 8 inches. By winning the title, it marked the second-straight year in which the Blue Jays have brought home a state championship at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
Other notables included freshman Linden Pickler crossing the finish line in sixth place with a time of 11:04.94 in the finals of the girls 3200 meters. On the boy’s side, the junior duo of Tylen Smith and Isaiah Byers advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 200 meters by clocking a time of 22.12 and 22.13, respectively. Finally, the 4x100 of Lance Norris, Smith, Aidenn Segura and Byers recorded a time of 42.57 to finish seventh overall and advance to final round action.
