Resolution of the EMS Services issue will be a key topic for the Geary County Commission in 2024. That's a sentiment of Commissioner Keith Ascher.
The County and City have been in disagreement over the amount that will be paid by the County for their share of the cost of EMS. This past week Ascher noted that city and county staffs had been meeting and as of the end of December were getting closer and talking. "I am very optimistic that we're going to get this resolved and obviously we need to do something new with that old 1967 ( joint ) agreement. It's just a matter of sitting down and talking through it and coming up with figures. I know staff is working on it."
Ascher pointed to another key issue. "We're going to rewrite our finance policy for procurement of items that we buy through our purchase policy.
The commissioner noted that they always work to support citizens with the best and most efficient services at a reasonable cost.
