Decisions will need to be made on the future of the current JCHS facility

A new high school under construction in Junction City is due to open by August of 2021. But the fate of the current JCHS facility is still to be determined.

Proposals can be submitted to the school district for the use of the current facility in the future. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Eggleston told the Board of Education individuals and groups know the district will vacate the current building in a couple of years to move to the new school. "So there's a lot of interest as to what's going to happen to the property, the facilities. Because of that I've shared with you that we need to move forward with creating an RFP ( Request for Proposal ) to put out so that entities out there can determine if they're interested and notify us of it."

Eggleston added the Board can then review those RFP's, "and look at doing business or taking some necessary action as far as how we want to manage the property once we have vacated it."

The goal is to publish an RFP in January with an open ended date for about one year. That will give groups an opportunity to review the information, write proposals and submit them.
