Leota N. Rader, age 93, of Manhattan, died December 24, 2019, at her residence.
She was born October 5, 1926, in Keytesville, Missouri, the daughter of Harold Council and Emma A. (Wilhoit) Newsom.
Leota graduated from high school in Lexington, Missouri.
She was married to George Rader, Jr. on November 8, 1946, in Olathe, Kansas. Mr. Rader preceded her in death on March 12, 2015.
Leota was the manager for the family business Rader Construction.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, LaSertoma, Quarter Horse Association, and United Commercial Travelers. She was active in the Riley County Republican Women organization and was honored as Republican of the Year.
Leota enjoyed traveling, attending KSU athletics and her granddaughter’s activities.
Survivors include her son, George “Bo” Rader, III and his wife Sandra, of Wichita, Kansas; and two granddaughters: Alexandra A. Rader and Mikeala A. Rader and her fiancé Josh Bisges.
Leota was also preceded in death by two daughters: Rochelle Lee Rader and Christa Layne Rader; one brother and sister in law Vernon Newsom and his wife Lorene; and two sisters: Wilma Schloman and Lauvah A Gould.
Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at at later date in Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan, with Reverend Amy Bowers officiating.
