Catfish anglers from multiple states will compete at Milford Lake on March 28 in a King Kat Tournament Trail event presented by Bass Pro Shops Cabela's. Local and traveling anglers will be vying for cash, prizes and an opportunity to return to Milford Lake in the fall on Oct. 30 and 31 to compete at the 2020 King Kat Classic which will feature a guaranteed payout of $120,000 in cash and prizes.
Milford Lake is known for big catfish. Local anglers suggest that tournament anglers use fresh bait, with shad being the popular bait at the reservoir. Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism have been stocking Milford Lake with blue catfish since the early 1990s.
Teams may consist of one to three anglers but limits are based on a two person team. Early registration can be accomplished on the King Kat website at Outdoor Promotions.
The Classic Championship in October will feature feature a guaranteed payout of $120,000 in cash and prizes. The points race is set to pay out $30,000 to the top 20 places based on a competitor's top five finishes.
