Carole Ann Moege, 77, of Alma, Kansas, died peacefully, Monday, February 17, 2020, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
Carole was born July 2, 1942 in Wamego, KS to Elmer and Evelyn Meyer Zeckser. She attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Alma High School in 1960. She then attended Clark’s Business School.
Carole married Adolph “Sam” Moege, Jr. on October 21, 1962 in Alma. They traveled with his job and lived in many places in Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Carole worked as a secretary, was a homemaker and sold Avon until their three children were in school. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for a CPA firm in Sand Springs, OK for 3 years and for the Sahara Sand Company for 9 years until she retired in 1993. Sam and Carole moved to Oklahoma City, OK and lived there for 8 years. They moved back to Alma in 2001. Carole worked at the Alma branch of the Wabaunsee Regional Library for several years.
Carole was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City and St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. She was also a member of LWML, Friendship Circle, the Spring Creek Community Club and the Open Door Club. Carole adored her family, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed reading, quilting, baking and creating scrapbooks. Those who knew Carole also knew she loved country music, especially George Strait and Garth Brooks.
Along with her husband, Sam, Carole is survived by her mother, Evelyn Zeckser, Alma; sister, Marilyn Thomas, Topeka; son, Terry Moege (Debbie, Valley Center, KS; daughters, Cheryl Markle (Fletcher, Arvada, CO and Shelly Bush (Darryl, Oklahoma City, OK; and grandchildren, Matthew, Reagan, William, Bridget Moege; Sydney, Delanie, Braden Markle; Nathan and Samantha Bush, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 21, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Carole will lie-in-state on Thursday, February 20, beginning at 4:00 pm and the family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. They suggest memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran School, or the Wabaunsee Regional Library, Alma Branch, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Gentry Funeral home.
