Walter C. Hoffman, age 88, of Manhattan, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.
Walter was born on August 26, 1931, in Preston, Kansas, the son of Walter C. Hoffman Sr. and Minnie E. (Tice) Hoffman. He graduated high school with the class of 1949 and then served in the United State Air Force. He then attended Kansas State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in 1958.
On January 16, 1955, in Turon, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Twila J. Kittle.
Walter worked for Kansas State University in the Controllers Office as an accountant for many years. He was a founding member of the Stagg Hill Golf Club in Manhattan. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle whenever and wherever he could. He rode over 600,000 miles over the years and he was a member of the BMW MOA Club. He and Twila were members of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Stalcup, and his brothers, William Hoffman and Keith Hoffman.
Survivors include his wife Twila; his children: Rick Hoffman (Carol) of Round Rock, Texas, Steven Hoffman (Ercilia) of Tracy, California, Brenda Clark (Kirk) of Stow, Massachusetts, and Eric Hoffman (Alicia) of Camarillo, California; and also, his brother Robert Hoffman of Hoover, Alabama; and his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services for Mr. Hoffman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz in Manhattan, with Pastor Sarah Marsh officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
