Junction City Blue Jay wrestlers will be competing in a Class 6A Regional Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday at Washburn Rural High School.
Coach Tyler Gonzalez noted that there are 36 wrestling teams in Class 6A, and they're split into two 18-team regionals. "Traditionally the West has been a little tougher than the East. That's part of why I changed our schedule up, part of why I made it a little tougher on our kids. Could potentially hurt us in some situations with some records but at the same time I think our kids are pretty battle tested and ready for this kind of competition."
Qualifiers from the regional will advance to the Class 6A State Tournament next week in Park City at Hartman Arena.
