Geary County Sheriff Daniel Jackson will seek election to a full four-year term in that office. Jackson made the announcement during a break in observing dive team advanced training at Milford Lake Friday morning.
Jackson was appointed to fill an unexpired term for sheriff in May of 2019. Since then he has overseen renovations to the jail, increased training, added staff and helped with the formation of a joint county-city dive team.
Jackson expects to formally file for election within a few weeks. He said he loves the job of sheriff. "I've always loved law enforcement but leading an agency like we have right here is just something special, we've got such a good group of people."
