School related Coronavirus statement

From USD 475:

We know that many parents and members of the community are concerned about the impacts that a viral outbreak can have on our schools and our community. District administration has been monitoring this quickly evolving situation for weeks and has worked hard to plan for a wide variety of scenarios that can arise.

The district has already taken proactive measures to ensure a safe environment for learning and teaching. USD 475 is able to prevent/contain contamination with use of its recently acquired (by ABM, the District support contractor) electro-static decontamination devices. These backpacks deliver an electrically charged vapor containing Virex Plus cleaning agent. The vapor adheres itself to all hard and soft surfaces. It has a three minute kill time and evaporates in under 15 minutes. Virex is the same chemical traditionally used to manually wipe contact points.

Additionally, the District contractor accepted delivery on three 'chemical free' floor cleaning machines. This equipment changes the Ph balance of water and sanitizes floors without use of chemicals. We have been hard at work during the spring break to ensure that each school receives a thorough deep cleaning.

Administrators will attend a meeting Friday with local health agencies to discuss proactive measures community agencies will take in the event the virus reaches our community and will discuss which proactive measures may fit best for our community.

USD 475 is confident that the district is prepared for a wide variety of situations. However, the district cannot make any final decisions on which actions to take until administrators have met with Community leaders and experts.

We will provide more information on the actions the district will take after Friday’s meeting. Information will be sent to parents and staff via email and posted to the district Facebook page. We will work diligently to ensure that we communicate with our community and that parents and staff know what to expect next.

From Cloud County Community College:
